Alex Katz:
Portraits and Landscapes Through the Seasons

Curated by Sponder Gallery, ALEX KATZ: Portraits and Landscapes – Through the Seasons will celebrate Alex Katz as a pioneering figure in contemporary art. This thoughtfully curated collection of silkscreens, pigment prints, and linocuts highlights Katz’s masterful ability to distill form and color into a dialogue of flatness, simplicity, and precision, bridging the boundaries between narrative clarity and modernist abstraction.

This award is extended annually to individuals who advance the mission of the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens and embrace Ann Norton’s vision for her legacy to our community.

Featuring Musical Performance by George Bugatti

George Bugatti, born in Brooklyn Heights, New York, is a singer, pianist, writer, and producer. His musical journey began at age five when his parents lost him in Macy’s Herald Square, and he was discovered playing piano in the piano department. This early encounter with music led to formal training, attendance at the High School of Performing Arts in NYC, and acceptance into the Juilliard School. However, a severe hand injury redirected his career from classical piano to singing and songwriting. In the intervening years, rehabilitation of his hand allowed George to accompany himself on prestigious stages such as Carnegie Hall, a mainstay performer at Bellagio, Las Vegas and an eight-year residency at Peninsula, Beverly Hills where LA Magazine dubbed him, “The West Coast’s answer to The Carlyle’s, Bobby Short.”
His notable works include the albums “Live on the Strip” and “A Night for Romance,” featuring collaborations with Paul Anka and Bono from U2. His debut CD was produced by Steve Allen, the creator of the Tonight Show. Career highlights include performing with Tony Bennett at the Thousand Oaks Civic Auditorium, by Bennett’s invitation, and a duet with Michel Legrand at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. As a writer and producer, Bugatti has written tthe theatrical production, “The Wonderful Wizard of Song,” a modern take on composer Harold Arlen’s legacy, co-produced with Todd Gershwin and the composer’s son, Sam Arlen.  Bugatti’s career has been featured in major publications, including Rolling Stone, Los Angeles Magazine, The LA Times, and Variety.

Sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
