Picasso: Clay, Line and Legacy centers on the artist’s transformative period at the Madoura pottery workshop in Vallauris, France, from 1946 to the early 1970s. The presentation features Picasso’s innovative ceramics alongside linocuts, prints, and select tapestries from the same era, offering a broader lens on his artistic experimentation and material versatility.
Illuminating his exploratory approach to these mediums, the exhibition highlights Picasso’s technical mastery, creative fluidity, and sustained dialogue with both traditional craftsmanship and modernist expression. It underscores his revolutionary contributions to ceramics and printmaking, while also elevating the often-overlooked role of textile art in his practice. By focusing on the Madoura period, the narrative reveals Vallauris as a crucible of creative renewal and affirms Picasso’s boundary-defying legacy across mediums—clay, line, thread, and beyond.
